You spend a big part of your income on rent (more than 30%)
You’ve lost your job, had work hours cut, or have a lot of bills
You’re a single parent, senior, or have a disability
You have a low or moderate income (based on your family size)
If selected, you receive a voucher to help cover your rent. You can use the voucher at approved private housing (apartments, homes, etc.). Rent is paid directly to your landlord by the housing authority
Section 8 has waitlists or lottery drawings in most areas. The sooner you apply, the better your chance.
